"Today I have to make a difficult but necessary decision. In light of the publicly known events involving Dr. Castillo, I have decided that he will no longer represent me legally in the case I am pursuing," Emily stated in her post.

Ceco's decision was motivated by the context of violence surrounding her. As a survivor of violence, Emily made it clear that she could not continue working with someone who, as shown publicly, had also committed acts of violence. "This not only affects me deeply on a personal level, but it also goes against everything I am fighting to heal and defend," she added.
It is important to remember that, in the past, Roberto Castillo had played a crucial role in the arrest of Santiago Martínez, Emily Ceco's ex, following accusations of physical violence. However, despite the significance of that achievement, Emily maintained her stance and decided to seek a new lawyer, someone who shared her commitment to sensitivity and respect for her personal process.
