Gastón Edul launched very harsh criticism against Héctor "Yoyo" Maldonado, former director of Independiente and right-hand man of union leader Hugo Moyano during his administration at the head of the club. In a livestream together with streamer Davoo Xeneize, the TyC Sports journalist did not hold anything back and pointed directly at the former General Secretary for his terrible administration at Rojo between 2014 and 2022.
Without naming him at first, Edul explained that he had publicly questioned a former director whom he had to cover during his time as the club's reporter. "I described his administration as terrible, that his unusual, irresponsible signings, with unusual amounts made Independiente fall into a debt from which it could not recover for 7 or 8 years and is still paying and condemned Independiente to absolute mediocrity", he stated.
In that regard, he recounted situations that reflect how the board of directors at that time operated: players who left on free transfers, notarized letters that were not answered, and lawsuits that moved forward without any kind of control. "They had no interest whatsoever in the club doing well and they devastated it", he summarized.
