Google launches free AI-powered features for Photos and YouTube Shorts
Google adds AI features to Photos and Shorts: you can create videos for free from your images
Google adds new Artificial Intelligence features to its most popular services, such as Photos and YouTube Shorts.
The main new feature is the ability to generate short videos from images, completely free of charge.

What changes are coming to Google Photos?
The Google Photos app incorporates a new feature that transforms static images into clips of up to six seconds.
This tool, based on Veo 2, allows users to apply subtle movements to photos or use the "I'm Feeling Lucky" option.
What is Veo 2?
It is Google's AI video generator, similar to OpenAI's Sora or Meta's MovieGen.

It works by identifying elements in an image to animate them smoothly, achieving realistic and expressive results.
The "Remix" feature is also added
This tool allows users to recreate photos in different visual styles, such as comics, anime, sketches, or 3D animations.

It will be available in the coming weeks on iOS and Android, first in the United States and then globally.
What AI features does YouTube Shorts add?
As with Photos, YouTube Shorts will allow users to generate videos from images using the same technology.
The feature will debut in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand starting next week.

When will it reach the rest of the world?
Google reported that the global rollout will be gradual and will be completed by the end of 2025.
