HBO confirmed the first names of the cast that will be part of the reboot of Harry Potter. The series will have a duration of 10 years and promises to be a more faithful adaptation to J.K. Rowling's books.
The new actors who will portray the most iconic professors of Hogwarts have already been selected. Although some names were already strongly rumored, it's now official: magic returns to the small screen with renewed faces.
Who are the new actors in the Harry Potter series?
The new Harry Potter series, produced by HBO and Warner Bros., already has its first confirmed figures. These are the actors who will bring to life the most important professors of Hogwarts:
- John Lithgow will be Albus Dumbledore
- Janet McTeer will portray Minerva McGonagall
- Paapa Essiedu will bring to life Severus Snape
- Nick Frost will embody Rubeus Hagrid
- Luke Thallon will have a recurring role as Quirinus Quirrell
- Paul Whitehouse will portray the caretaker Argus Filch
The signings combine experience and charisma, with recognized figures in international film, theater, and television.

Francesca Gardiner, showrunner and lead writer, and Mark Mylod, director of several episodes, expressed their excitement about the cast.

When does filming start?
Filming is scheduled to start this European summer. The actors chosen to portray Harry, Ron, and Hermione are not yet known.
