Independiente is stranded in Sucre due to weather conditions and technical malfunctions
After the defeat in Bolivia, Rojo faced a delayed flight due to thick fog and a technical failure in the plane
Independiente experienced a true odyssey to play its debut match in the Copa Sudamericana against Nacional Potosí. Besides the long journey to Estadio Víctor Agustín Ugarte and the subsequent 2-0 defeat, the Red had complications returning to the country, as, due to thick fog and problems with the plane that should have taken them back to Buenos Aires, the team is stranded in Sucre.

After the match ended, the Red's delegation began the return to Sucre in the same 4x4 vehicles they had used to reach the stadium. After traveling the demanding 93 miles (150 kilometers) of road, the team was preparing to board the flight in the early morning when they encountered an unforeseen issue: dense fog prevented any type of takeoff.
During the wait, the Bolivian airport staff provided good attention, opening one of the shops so that the players and the coaching staff could access more than the packed meal they had with them. Additionally, they were given access to two rooms to be more comfortable while awaiting updates.
The charter responsible for transporting them arrived from Cochabamba with a technical fault, which prevented its departure to Buenos Aires. Once the aircraft is changed, the delegation will begin the return to Argentina on a flight of approximately three hours.
Independiente and its match in Potosí
Despite not having an easy stay, the Red did not play a bad match in Potosí. During the first hour of play, it showed superiority over its rival and created opportunities to take the lead. However, the weather conditions played against them. At 13,420 feet (4090 meters) above sea level, intense rain was added, drastically reducing the temperature and adding even more difficulty to a match that was already a great challenge. Nacional, accustomed to these conditions, knew how to take advantage of them and ended up securing a valuable victory to start its participation in the Copa Sudamericana on the right foot.

As soon as the squad returns to Avellaneda, the King of Cups will have to prepare for its visit to Lanús on Sunday, with the goal of defending its lead in Zone B of the Torneo Apertura, and to host Boston River at the Libertadores de América two days later.
