Meanwhile, Estudiantes de La Plata is focusing on the final of the 2025 Torneo Clausura against Racing, scheduled for Saturday the 13th at 9:00 p.m. at Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades. Its president, Juan Sebastián Verón, is fighting a separate battle. "Brujita" is serving the first of the six months of suspension imposed by the AFA Disciplinary Tribunal for the players' back-turning corridor against Rosario Central, but he has already initiated actions to try to overturn the sanction.

On November 27, the AFA officially announced through its Official Bulletin No. 6797 the punishment that disqualifies him from performing his duties as an executive until mid-2026. Verón believes that the decision was "arbitrary" and considers that there was an "excess" in the penalties imposed. For this reason, according to TyC Sports, he will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to demand that the suspension be lifted immediately.

"These are all things that clearly are targeted and there is a bias against Estudiantes, which doesn't exist and hasn't existed against any other team," he said days ago on Radio con Vos. He also defended the players' actions: "Ultimately, we did it and you're censoring the players' freedom of expression in a place that is their environment."

The sanction was not imposed solely on Verón. The 11 starting players who turned their backs during the corridor received two-match suspensions, which will take effect in the first rounds of the next tournament. In addition, Santiago Núñez, the team's captain on that occasion, was penalized with three months (3 months) without being able to wear the armband, and the club must pay the equivalent of 4,000 general admission tickets.
