Karoline Leavitt targeted the media after the murder of Iryna Zarutska.
Donald Trump's spokesperson criticized mainstream media for not covering the case
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt issued a strong statement this Tuesday regarding the murder of Iryna Zarutska, the 23-year-old Ukrainian woman who was stabbed by an African American man while traveling on a public train in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In her press conference, Leavitt criticized mainstream media for not covering the case and highlighted the seriousness of the incident, stressing that the victim was murdered by a repeat offender who should never have been free.
“The most shameful thing of all is that most media outlets didn't report it because it didn't fit their narrative”, Leavitt stated. President Donald Trump's press secretary emphasized that Zarutska was an innocent young woman who had come to the United States seeking safety after the war in Ukraine.
"This beautiful and innocent 23-year-old woman was a Ukrainian refugee who had recently fled her country in search of a safer life and a promising new beginning here in the United States of America", she said.

Leavitt recalled that the victim was on her way home after her workday, still in her work uniform, when she was attacked by Decarlos Brown Jr., the African American murderer with 14 prior arrests.
“But, tragically, a major transportation system in a major American city was more dangerous than the active war zone she had left behind”, she said. According to the spokesperson, Zarutska's death could have been prevented if authorities had intervened properly and kept the assailant in custody.
The spokesperson noted that President Trump and the entire White House are “praying for her family and friends during this exceptionally difficult time”. She added that, in addition to condolences, it is necessary to “seek justice for this crime and draw attention to this heinous incident”.

Leavitt described the images of the attack as “pure evil on display” and denounced that Zarutska's tragedy reflects the dangerous security policies in Democrat-governed places. “The most outrageous and unacceptable thing is that her death was entirely preventable. Brown Jr. should never have been on that train that night. In fact, he should have been behind bars”, she stated.
The spokesperson's statement adds to Trump's, who today described the murder as a consequence of Democrat authorities and promised a tough stance against violent criminals.
