In 2022, the Princes of Wales left apartment 1A of Kensington Palace to settle in Adelaide Cottage, a historic residence located within Windsor Great Park. At that time, it was speculated that the move aimed to bring them closer to Queen Elizabeth II, who would pass away months later at Windsor Castle.
Later, Kate Middleton confirmed another reason. During the St. Patrick's Day parade, last March 17, she commented to some military personnel and their families: "We moved to Windsor to have more green space". She also highlighted that the location allowed them to maintain their commitments without straying too far from London.
A more intimate and secure environment for their children
Windsor, located an hour from London, offered them an additional advantage: greater privacy for their children. Unlike Kensington, where they were frequently photographed, Adelaide Cottage is within a privately managed area that prevents access to strangers. This protection was key to ensuring them a more peaceful childhood.
