Kate Middleton and Prince William moved to Adelaide Cottage for their children

The Princess of Wales revealed that moving to Windsor was for her children's well-being, but it wasn't the only reason

In 2022,the Princes of Wales left apartment 1A of Kensington Palace to settle in Adelaide Cottage,a historic residence located within Windsor Great Park. At that time, it was speculated that the move aimed to bring them closer to Queen Elizabeth II, who would pass away months later at Windsor Castle.

Later, Kate Middleton confirmed another reason. During the St. Patrick's Day parade, last March 17, she commented to some military personnel and their families: "We moved to Windsor to have more green space". She also highlighted that the location allowed them to maintain their commitments without straying too far from London.

A more intimate and secure environment for their children

Windsor, located an hour from London, offered them an additional advantage: greater privacy for their children. Unlike Kensington, where they were frequently photographed, Adelaide Cottage is within a privately managed area that prevents access to strangers. This protection was key to ensuring them a more peaceful childhood.

Another important factor was the proximity to Queen Elizabeth II in her last months of life. According to journalist Robert Jobson, Kate understood the importance of William being close to his grandmother and his father, further strengthening his bond with the monarchy.

Long-term benefits

Currently, the family still sees their decision as a wise choice. The proximity to Lambrook School, where their children study, facilitates daily life. Additionally, they are close to Kate's parents, Michael and Carol Middleton, who have been an essential support, especially during the Princess of Wales's illness.

In recent months, Kate Middleton has resumed her public agenda with determination. According to royal expert Ingrid Seward, she is "ready to reclaim her role" within the monarchy. Although expectations are high, the princess has shown that she knows how to balance her responsibilities with her priority: family and her health.
