L-Gante spoke as rarely before about his time in prison and reflected on how he experienced the one hundred days he spent in detention. The reflection came during an interview on Otro día perdido (El Trece), where the musician had a one-on-one conversation with Mario Pergolini.
The artist recalled the impact of isolation, the changes of lawyer, and even the unexpected lesson that confinement left him, a stage that he said marked him forever.
L-Gante habló como pocas veces de su estadía en prisión
"I asked for a cellmate, I was bored"
Pergolini addressed the topic directly and asked him if at any point he doubted that he might remain in prison for a longer period. "I started to doubt it..." the musician admitted, who only realized the gravity of the situation when he was already with his third lawyer and had been detained for more than two months.
"It was a regular cell, very isolated, I started out alone. At one point I asked if they could give me a cellmate because I was very bored: I was going to go crazy," he recalled. Finally, they granted his request: "When he saw me, he went crazy, but we got along well and it was mild," he recounted with laughter.
The changes of lawyer and the uncertainty
During the interview, L-Gante said that going through different lawyers made him doubt for the first time about the future of his case. "When I was already changing to the third one, I said: delete the topic, I came back," he recalled about those tense days.
The lesson that confinement left him
The artist also spoke about the emotional impact of the experience. "I learned, today I value things more," he said. According to him, having temporarily lost his freedom allowed him to realize the importance of his own time and contact with the people he loves.
"You realize how valuable it is to be able to see whoever you want when you want. That is priceless," he said as he concluded his reflection.
