Life is Strange, released in 2015, revolutionized the graphic adventure genre thanks to its narrative approach and the story of Max Caulfield, a teenager with the power to rewind time. Its plot, filled with ethical dilemmas and youth drama, built a loyal community of followers.
However, the franchise's trajectory has been inconsistent. Subsequent titles received mixed reviews, and the most recent, Life is Strange: Double Exposure, did not meet Square Enix's expectations. The commercial failure even led to layoffs at Deck Nine, the studio responsible for development.
Amazon and Square Enix's bet
In this context, the confirmation of a series on Prime Video emerges as an opportunity to revitalize the saga. Amazon already has experience adapting video games to the screen, with recent cases such as Fallout and Like a Dragon: Yakuza, and upcoming projects like God of War and Tomb Raider.

The production will feature Charlie Covell, creator of The End of the F**ing World*, as showrunner, head writer, and executive producer. The team is completed by Story Kitchen, Amazon MGM Studios, LuckyChap (Margot Robbie's production company), and Square Enix. Covell emphasized that she will seek to preserve the essence of the story and connect with both original fans and new audiences.
