In another example of his communist delusion, the current New York mayor is pushing a massive tax hike and a grab at the city's savings

The mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, presented his 127 billion dollar budget this week, emphasizing the need to raise taxes on the richest; otherwise,New York's middle class will have to assume the costs of the communist agenda pursued by the Muslim politician.
The current mayor proposed a spending plan that depends heavily on Governor Kathy Hochul and the state legislature agreeing to raise taxes on corporations. If they do not do so, Mamdani has threatened a "last resort": a 9.5% increase in the property tax that would directly affect millions of homeowners and businesses in the city.
"There are two paths to close the city's inherited budget deficit. The first path is the most sustainable and fair: raising taxes on the richest and on corporations," Mamdani said on Tuesday in a speech.
"If we do not follow the first path, the city will be forced to take a second, more harmful path,of raising property taxes and drawing on our reserves, weakening our tax base in the long term and placing the burden of resolving this crisis on the shoulders of hardworking and middle-class New Yorkers," the socialist continued.

Mamdani wants to use the money from two crucial funds for the city
The threat to tax ordinary citizens is not the only "little gem" of the municipal budget. Desperate to find funds, Mamdani proposed withdrawing 980 million dollars from the city's Rainy Day Fund and taking another 229 million from the Retiree Health Benefits Trust Fund.
The first fund serves as a financial cushion in the face of unexpected crises or emergencies that may occur in the Big Apple, such as recessions or natural disasters. The second reserves ensure that the city can meet its commitments to retired public employees.
Mamdani still has time to adjust his budget, and negotiations with other politicians in New York will shape the final spending plan. "We do not want to have to resort to such drastic measures to balance our budget. But if we do not have another option, we will be forced to do so," the Democrat added.
It is worth noting that, in this budget plan, Mamdani plans to halt the expansion of New York Police (in English, NYPD) that his predecessor in the position Eric Adams was promoting and he has already announced that he will cut 22 million from the police force.
