Matt Damon once again surprised Hollywood with anextreme physical transformation at 55 years old. The actor prepared for months to star in The Odyssey, the ambitious film directed by Christopher Nolan that will arrive in theaters in 2026.

A clear request from Nolan and a response without excuses
According to Damon himself, Nolan had a very specific idea of the character. He wanted a defined, strong physique, but without excessive bulk, something that required extreme discipline.
Far from avoiding the challenge, the actor fully committed to the preparation. Intense training and drastic changes in his diet were the foundation of the process.
The diet that made the difference: goodbye to gluten
One of the key points of the plan was to completely eliminate gluten. Damon explained that this adjustment was crucial for losing weight and improving his physical performance.
Según contó el propio Damon, Nolan tenía una idea muy concreta del personaje
Usually, his weight ranges between 84 and 91 kilos (185.2 and 200.6 pounds). For the shoot, he reached 76 kilos (167.6 pounds), a number he had not hit since his teenage years.
Extreme training and daily routine
The transformation was not limited to diet. The actor trained every day, with sessions designed to gain strength without increasing mass.
As the weeks went by, the training became part of his daily life. Damon stated that he organized his entire day around that routine.

Benefits that are here to stay
Beyond the shoot, the actor revealed that he kept several of the changes. Continuing to avoid gluten brought him physical improvements that he plans to maintain over time.
He even joked about having found gluten-free beer, which made the new eating plan more bearable.
