Awaiting Miguel Ángel Russo, Riquelme assigns the fitness coaches to lead training sessions
The club is still looking to definitively part ways with Gago and finalize the signing of San Lorenzo's current head coach as soon as possible
While the team returns to training with its sights set on the Club World Cup, the management of Boca, led by Juan Román Riquelme, is working to formalize Fernando Gago's departure and confirm Miguel Ángel Russo's return.
According to various sources, between this Monday and Tuesday, Gago's contract termination will be decided, almost a month after he left his position, and his disassociation will be formally signed.

Meanwhile, for Russo to be officially presented as the new coach, his departure from San Lorenzo must first be finalized, after the team's elimination in the semifinals of the 2025 Torneo Apertura against Platense.
In this context, Ciclón's president, Julio Lopardo, stated: "I haven't spoken with Miguel yet; we'll surely do so at some point. It will happen. We have to talk, then we'll see".

In La Ribera, they are waiting for the situation with San Lorenzo to be solved in order to make Russo's appointment official. Meanwhile, they have already defined an alternative plan for the team's day-to-day operations.
Who will lead training sessions in the meantime?
The leadership of the training sessions will be temporarily handled by fitness coachesDiego Ciniello and Cristian Aquino. In addition, it has emerged from the club that it is not ruled out that a member of Russo's coaching staff could join the practices at Boca Predio.

This way, Mariano Herrón, Norberto Pompei, and Silvio Rudman have been ruled out for that interim role, all of whom are currently working with the club's Reserve and Youth teams.
