The Government of Javier Milei, through the National Security Ministry, confirmed this Friday the execution of an unprecedented operation that resulted in the seizure of 9,800 kilograms (21,605 pounds) of marijuana, the largest amount ever recorded in the country's history.
The Security Minister, Patricia Bullrich, announced the result through her X account, highlighting the "historic" nature of the operation carried out by the Argentine National Gendarmerie (GNA) in coordination with Brazilian authorities.

"Hello, good morning. Breaking news. The National Security Ministry and the Argentine National Gendarmerie have just carried out a historic operation," Bullrich wrote in her first message. Minutes later, she specified the scope of the action: "THE LARGEST DRUG SEIZURE IN ARGENTINE HISTORY: 9,800 KILOGRAMS (21,605 POUNDS) OF MARIJUANA."

According to the initial information released by Bullrich, the drugs were being transported in a stolen Brazilian truck with forged documents. The discovery was made possible thanks to the joint work of criminal intelligence units, GNA personnel, and direct cooperation with Brazilian authorities. One of the key elements of the operation was the action of the detection dog "Vera," which marked the vehicle and enabled the discovery of the hidden cargo.
