The Government of Javier Milei announced the implementation of "AlertAR," an early warning system that will allow immediate notifications to be sent to all phones of people located in areas affected by emergencies or disasters.
The official announcement was made by the Chief of Staff, Manuel Adorni, during a press conference, where he emphasized that it is a strategic tool to improve prevention and response by authorities in critical situations.
Adorni reported that "ENACOM and the National Security Ministry will launch the Early Warning System, known as ALERTAR." According to his explanation, the mechanism will "notify the population in real time in the event of natural disasters, meteorological emergencies, and public safety warnings."

This is a massive communication system that will operate by sending the same message to all cell phones connected in a specific area. One of the main features of this technology is its ability to interrupt the normal operation of the phone in urgent cases.
Adorni indicated that the notification will arrive "through a cell phone alert that can even interrupt ongoing calls and requires the message to be read before it disappears from the screen." This approach is aligned with international standards for public alert systems used in countries such as the United States, Japan, or South Korea.
The Chief of Staff stressed that AlertAR will operate even in contexts of mobile network saturation. "The alert will be sent even if the network is congested and regardless of the carrier; it is enough to have the phone turned on and under coverage," he stated.
He also highlighted that the system doesn't collect user information and preserves their privacy: "In addition, the system guarantees privacy and anonymity and users do not need to register or provide personal data; it also doesn't require additional applications or subscriptions."
The launch of the project will require a total investment of 12,000 million pesos (26,455,471 pounds), which, according to Adorni, "is financed by the Universal Service Fund, known as FSU."

The National Security Ministry also shared the news from its official X account, where it stated: "For the first time, Argentina will have AlertAR, a national early warning system that will send immediate notifications to all phones in an emergency area, without apps or registration."
According to the statement released, "AlertAR will reduce response times, expand coverage, and strengthen prevention in the face of emergencies, disasters, and urgent searches such as Alerta Sofía."
They also celebrated the development of this tool as a key advancement: "A paradigm shift: a modern, direct, and massive tool created thanks to the joint work of the National Security Ministry, AFE, the Secretariat of Innovation, Science and Technology, ENACOM, and telecommunications companies."
With the implementation of AlertAR, Argentina joins the group of countries that use cell broadcast systems for emergencies, a technology considered essential for saving lives in cases of emergencies or natural disasters.
