President Javier Milei shared on Wednesday on his social media a video about some despicable statements by the corrupt and convicted Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, corresponding to a recording that was released during the period when she held the presidency.
Along with the post, Milei added a text in which he questioned the functioning of the Argentine pension system and directed new criticism at Kirchnerism, which he blamed for the deterioration of public accounts and for the disastrous decisions adopted during previous administrations.
"Perversion. They broke the pension system with the goal of engaging in short-term populism while mocking what they leave to their successor. Then, from the opposition, they push measures that lead to the bankruptcy of the State. Fortunately, they are on their way out… The end", wrote the President when he released the material.
The shared video contains a fragment of an informal conversation by the then head of state, in which there is a reference to an exchange prior to an official visit to the province of San Juan. In the audio, the convicted former president recounts a dialogue in which she mentions the crisis linked to the payment of pensions in the future.
"No, you are crazy, he told me. 'When is he going to San Juan?'. 'Well, you go and start probing him to see what he tells you'", can be heard in one of the released passages.
In another part of the recording, Cristina Kirchner continues recounting the episode and makes reference to a threat directed at a political leader. "And he tells me: 'For fuck's sake, you were right'. I couldn't believe it. When I say 'Go talk to that idiot, tell him that when he is president in 2017, he won't be able to pay the pensions on my behalf, you know?'", she states in the audio.
The fragment continues with laughter and comments about the serious economic situation mentioned: "No, no, how much we laughed, how much we laughed about that…".
The audio was originally released at the beginning of 2018, when it was broadcast on the program that journalist Luis Majul hosted on Radio Berlín. At that time, the material caused a strong political impact due to the content of the conversations.
Cristina Kirchner fue internada en un sanatorio privado.
The wiretaps correplied to dialogues between the then former president and the former Secretary General of the Presidency, Oscar Parrilli. In those conversations, both referred to the internal situation of the Justicialist Party after Kirchnerism's electoral defeat in the 2015 elections, which marked the end of its governing cycle.
During those exchanges, Fernández de Kirchner made critical comments about the functioning of the PJ and about leaders who had decided to distance themselves from the Frente para la Victoria after the change of government. In that context, one of the expressions that had the greatest impact at the time was the phrase "They should stitch up their asses", used when referring to those who were leaving the political space.
Through his post, Milei once again targeted Kirchnerism and made it clear that Kirchnerism is responsible for the structural problems of the State, particularly in fiscal and pension matters.
