Milei strengthens his alliance with Trump and travels to the US to receive the 'MAGA' award
The Argentine president will meet with the United States head of state and will be awarded
The president Javier Milei will embark this Wednesday on a lightning trip to the United States to strengthen his bond with Donald Trump and receive the prestigious "Make America Great Again" award.
The visit, which will include high-level meetings and gestures of cooperation between both nations, comes at a key moment for the Argentine economy, with the government seeking to advance a new agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and strengthen its global integration strategy.
Milei will head to the U.S. after leading the commemorative event for the Falklands War in Buenos Aires, where he will pay tribute to the fallen with a message broadcast on national television. After this event, he will meet at the Casa Rosada with Ajay Banga, president of the World Bank, who is visiting the region to evaluate investment strategies.

Subsequently, the Argentine head of state will fly to Palm Beach, Florida, where he will be honored with the "Make America Great Again" award at Mar-a-Lago, the residence of Donald Trump. It is expected that, in this meeting, Milei and the U.S. leader will hold an informal meeting where they will discuss strategic cooperation and political alignment for the future.
Meanwhile Milei consolidates his relationship with Trump, his foreign minister, Gerardo Werthein, is advancing in Washington in negotiations with the U.S. Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, to set the date for a historic bilateral meeting at the White House.
Official sources have confirmed that Milei will be the first Latin American president to be received by Trump in his second term, a gesture that highlights Argentina's renewed role on the international stage.
In diplomatic circles, it is speculated that the rapprochement between Milei and Trump could lead to an unprecedented trade agreement between Argentina and the United States.
"We are not talking about a Free Trade Agreement in formal terms, but a bilateral trade agreement that streamlines economic relations without the need for legislative approval", explained Werthein.

The initiative seeks to boost foreign investment in Argentina and enhance foreign trade, one of the priorities of the Milei administration. "We want Argentina to grow, for there to be more jobs. It is possible and we can implement it in a short time. We will do it as soon as possible", emphasized the foreign minister.
In parallel, Santiago Caputo, presidential advisor, received Barry Bennett, Trump's chief strategist, at the Casa Rosada on Tuesday to outline the details of this new stage in the bilateral relationship. According to reports, the Argentine government's goal is to accelerate the negotiations so that the agreement is finalized in the coming months.
President Milei has been emphatic about the need to open Argentina to international trade and strengthen ties with the United States. "We are moving strongly toward a free trade agreement. We are absolutely committed to an Argentina that trades with the whole world", he assured in recent statements.
