A far-left Muslim Democratic activist sparked a major controversy after sharing a video on social media in which she proclaims the beginning of an "Islamic caliphate" in New York.

The extremist, known on social media as "Viva Falastin Leen," is a pro-Palestinian activist who openly supported the campaign of the Muslim communist Zohran Mamdani, recently elected mayor of the city by the Democratic Party.

In the recording, which went viral in recent hours, the activist appears smiling and states: "The Islamic caliphate in New York begins now." She then adds: "We're all converting to Islam... mosques will be built on every block." In the same video, she says she feels very happy because, according to her, yesterday she already managed to get someone to convert to Islam.

The controversy erupted just hours after Zohran Mamdani's electoral victory, a figure from the most radical wing of the Democratic Party and close to pro-Palestinian organizations that promote Islam in the United States. Mamdani, of Ugandan origin and openly communist, promised to push for strong state intervention policies and a major expansion of social spending, which would be financed by enormous tax increases.

During his campaign, Mamdani presented himself as a "democratic socialist" and asserted the need to "transform New York's economic system from the ground up." He also promised to reduce police funding and redirect resources toward "community programs," since, in his own words, "violence is a social construct," which raised concerns about the possible increase in crime in the city.

Days before his victory, an exclusive JL Partners poll published by Daily Mail revealed that 9% of New York City residents, about 765,000, said they would "definitely" leave if Muslim communist Zohran Mamdani was elected mayor, and an additional 25% are considering it.

In total, more than 2.8 million people could leave the city, creating a historic exodus that would jeopardize the economic stability of the most important metropolis in the United States.

The report speaks directly of a possible "demographic annihilation" and warns that the fiscal impact of his proposals would be devastating, with consequences that would extend throughout the country. The loss of high-income taxpayers would drastically reduce local revenue, affecting the government's ability to sustain public programs.
