The K money trail: Fabián Rossi and four other convicted individuals have already been arrested

Rossi, sentenced to four years and six months in prison, first turned himself in at the federal courts of Comodoro Py

Following the order from Federal Oral Court No. 4 to detain six individuals convicted in the case known as "The K Money Trail," Fabián Rossi, sentenced to four years and six months in prison, was the first to turn himself in at the federal courts of Comodoro Py, where he was placed under police custody.

During the morning, César Fernández, sentenced to four years and six months, Carlos Molinari, to three years and six months, Eduardo Castro, to four years and six months, and Juan Alberto de Rasis, four years and six months, also appeared at the Comodoro Py 2002 courthouse, where they were also detained.

Meanwhile, Julio Mendoza, sentenced to five years in prison, reported that he has been hospitalized since last Friday due to a health decompensation.

All detainees will be housed at the Federal Police holding facility located in Madariaga, in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Villa Lugano, where they will undergo the corresponding medical examinations.

Four of the six convicted individuals requested to serve their sentences under house arrest, although that decision will be determined between this week and next. In the meantime, they will remain detained at the Federal Police headquarters.

Each individual will undergo the corresponding calculation to determine how much prison time remains, deducting the days already spent in detention at the beginning of the case. In the case of Fabián Rossi, for example, he has no prior days of detention.

Rossi, former attorney-in-fact of the financial firm S.G.I., who gained public notoriety for being at that time the husband of Iliana Calabró, appeared at the courts to formalize the procedures for his detention. He will then be transferred to the Superintendency of Federal Investigations of the Argentine Federal Police (PFA).

According to judicial sources, some of the convicted individuals are over 70 years old, which prompted the requests to serve their sentences at their respective homes.

The detentions were ordered by Judge Néstor Costabel, in accordance with the request of the trial prosecutor, Abel Córdoba, after the Supreme Court upheld the convictions, including that of Lázaro Báez.

The case

The case investigated and prosecuted a complex structure of banking and financial operations aimed at laundering approximately 60 million dollars, funds that originated from tax evasion schemes and fraudulent invoicing, carried out between 2010 and 2013.

Last week, the Supreme Court of Justice confirmed the 10-year prison sentence for businessman Lázaro Báez, who had benefited from public works contracts in the province of Santa Cruz during the Kirchner administrations, events that were also addressed in the case known as "Vialidad." The high court also upheld the sentence imposed on his son Martín Báez, who received a sentence of six and a half years in prison.
