Monte Maíz: economic emergency declared after union chaos and chronic deficit

Mayor Trotte signed a decree following incidents with unions. The aim is to prevent layoffs due to financial collapse

Tax crime is also wreaking havoc in Monte Maíz, where uncontrolled spending has left the municipality with no room to maneuver. Mayor Luis Trotte declared an economic, administrative, and financial emergency due to a crisis that had been brewing for months. The collapse was accelerated by union pressures and the inability to hold regular sessions in the City Council.

On Thursday, May 29, union members prevented the debate of an important project for the municipality. Councilors from the ruling party reported assaults, threats, and a deliberate blockade of the democratic functioning of the body. "It was an attempt at institutional intimidation," said legal advisor Gabriela Soresi during the press conference.

Years of financial disorder

The Secretary of Finance, Vanesa Pascual, explained that the municipality is compromised by an unviable and oversized structure. The emergency decree aims to avoid layoffs and reorganize finances, prioritizing essential services. Hiring is frozen, additional payments are reviewed, and expenses that are not strictly necessary are suspended.

The measure was taken due to the inability to hold regular sessions, with the risk of institutional paralysis, according to authorities. Two people have already been detained for the violent events on Thursday, and the courts are expected to move forward with more charges. Meanwhile, the union declared a "state of permanent alert" and will request the annulment of the decree in court.

The Milei model, necessary in every municipality to stop wastefulness

Monte Maíz is an example of what happens when municipalities spend more than they collect and give in to extortionate union logics. Local management shows that adjustment is not ideological: it is an urgent necessity when the State is on the verge of collapse. The national model promoted by President Javier Milei must be replicated in every corner of the country to stop budgetary chaos.

The creation of positions, the oversizing of structures, and political spending have been a constant in inefficient local administrations. Today, reality demands cuts, order, and transparency, in the face of unions that operate as shock forces to defend privileges.
