During a meeting at the White House with the President of the United States, Donald Trump, the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, promised to eliminate the trade deficit with the United States and remove all trade barriers between the two countries.
Netanyahu expressed his sympathy for Trump's stance on tariffs, highlighting that he is a supporter of free trade, but he emphasized that "free trade must be fair trade."
This promise comes after the Trump administration imposed a 17% tariff on Israeli products last week.
Netanyahu assured that Israel would take swift measures to reduce the trade deficit and improve trade relations with the United States, proposing his country as a model for other countries wishing to follow a similar approach. Additionally, he highlighted his commitment to free trade, albeit with conditions of fairness.
Netanyahu's announcement reflects an effort to strengthen economic ties between Israel and the United States in a context of growing global trade tension, aligning with the Trump administration's protectionist policy.
Meanwhile, President Trump assured that the United States will continue to provide assistance to Israel in the war against Hamas. The American leader emphasized that USD 4 billion are provided to Israel and this policy will continue.
In his dialogue with Netanyahu about the Gaza Strip, Trump noted the willingness of third countries to host the residents of the territories brought to ruin by the terrorist group Hamas.
