A new road collapse in Celso Barrios exposes official neglect in Córdoba
The municipal administration showcases projects in the city center, but in the outskirts there are only potholes and systematic neglect
The repeated collapse of Celso Barrios Avenue has once again exposed the fragility of public works in Córdoba. In the southern area, a section of pavement has sunk again next to the Easy side entrance despite repeated interventions in the sector. Each collapse represents a serious danger for drivers and pedestrians who must travel along a highly trafficked road.
Residents warn that the problems have persisted for years without effective solutions, while the municipal administration boasts about modernizing the city. In front of CPC Jardín, potholes and breaks coexist with the daily routine of thousands of people who must avoid unnecessary dangers. The same scene is also repeated in O’Higgins, where a large crater has remained unrepaired for months.
Mayor Daniel Passerini showcases public works as a symbol of his administration, but the reality in the outskirts contradicts him. Meanwhile, central neighborhoods receive visible improvements, while in the south potholes, collapses, and destroyed streets accumulate. Official statements highlight progress, although the daily deterioration contradicts any triumphalist narrative.

Neighborhood complaints about neglect and lack of response
On Carlos Paz Street, parallel to O’Higgins, potholes coexist with sewage water that has stagnated for several years. That situation not only damages traffic flow but also creates a permanent source of contamination in the heart of the urban area.
The frontage road near Circunvalación and Celso Barrios is not exempt from negligence either, since pruning debris and garbage accumulate there. Piles of uncollected grass encourage the presence of rodents and mosquitoes, which worsens the situation amid dengue outbreaks. Each passing day, the lack of cleaning increases the health risk.
To the filth is added poor lighting that turns the streets into an unsafe space at night, residents reported. In front of the Claros del Bosque country club, an open-air dump remains that the Municipality has never removed. Meanwhile, Javier Milei has rightly suspended national funding for public works, the local administration doesn't respond and neglects one of the pillars it always presents as a political emblem.
