Roberto Pettinato is once again at the center of a scandal: Chaco canceled his show for attacking folklore
After his offensive statements, a bar canceled his show to avoid conflicts with the community
Roberto Pettinato once again found himself at the center of controversy due to his polemical statements about Argentine folklore. His remarks caused widespread condemnation, especially in provinces where this musical genre is part of the cultural identity.
During his streaming program, the former Sumo member stated that he felt "ashamed" about the divisions within folklore, and he made a comment that sparked controversy: "Suddenly a bunch of guys with quenas and drums show up and I say... this has nothing to do with us."
Although he tried to clarify that he had been misunderstood and that he actually felt ashamed for not understanding folklore, the damage was already done. His explanation failed to calm tempers or stop the consequences.
The statement from the bar that broke the news
Days after the scandal, the account La Criti, by journalist Nahuel Saa, revealed the official statement from Búho Negro Bar in Quitilipi, Chaco. In the message, the establishment announced that it was canceling Pettinato's scheduled performance for the coming days.

"It's a shame for us not to be able to hold this event, since quite a few tickets have been sold. We also want to let you know that Búho Negro Bar is losing money with this decision, but we put the well-being of the Quitilipi community first to avoid conflicts among the good people of our beloved city," they stated.
The decision was motivated, as they explained, by the "public unrest caused in our community by the media confrontations between people from folklore and other musical fields."
Folklore, a sensitive subject
The measure reflected the strong impact that the host's comments had in a city deeply connected to popular music. Quitilipi is known for its folkloric tradition and its festivals, so Pettinato's words struck a sensitive chord locally.
The host maintained that it was all a misunderstanding, but the episode highlighted the risks of belittling deeply rooted cultural expressions. In this case, the cost was not only symbolic: he also lost a scheduled show and added a new controversy to his record.
Meanwhile, social media continued to share both the bar's statement and Pettinato's own response, and the debate about cultural respect and the limits of criticism remained open.
