Sony sold 2.5 million PS5 units in the last quarter, and the console has already surpassed 80 million units
Sony updated its figures and confirmed that the PlayStation 5 has surpassed 80 million units sold worldwide.
During the last quarter, they sold more consoles and games than in the same period in 2023, consolidating their leadership.

How many consoles did Sony sell in the last quarter?
Between April and June, 2.5 million PS5 units were sold, about 100,000 more than in the same period of the previous year.
This brought the total to 80.3 million consoles, a figure that puts PS5 close to PSP and Game Boy Advance.
Which consoles could PS5 surpass?
If this pace continues, PlayStation 5 could surpass the following in the coming months:
- PSP (between 80 and 82 million)
- Game Boy Advance (81.5 million)
- Xbox 360 (estimated 84 million)
- PlayStation 3 (88 million)

How does it compare to PS4 at this point in the cycle?
In the same period of its lifecycle, PS4 had about 82.3 million units sold. However, its price had dropped, while PS5 remained the same or even increased in some markets.
PlayStation Network is also growing
At the end of June, PlayStation Network had 123 million active users, compared to 116 million last year.

Play time also increased: 6% more compared to the first quarter of the previous fiscal year.
More games sold and more digital revenue
In the same quarter, 65.9 million games were sold between PS4 and PS5, which is 12.3 million more than last year.
Of those, 6.9 million were first party, and 83% of total sales were made digitally.

Is another major delay coming?
Sony reported that there was a delay in the launch of an exclusive title scheduled for this quarter.
Everything indicates that it is Marathon, Bungie's shooter, which was scheduled for September.
