President Javier Milei was honored with the Economic Freedom Award at the Hispanic Prosperity Gala of Latino Wall Street. The event was held at President Donald Trump's iconic residence in Mar-a-Lago.
Javier Milei was unable to travel because of the hectic days that are taking place in our country due to the extraordinary sessions. However, he sent a special message to the event virtually. There, he reaffirmed the course of his government, celebrated the bilateral agreements with Washington, and set out his geopolitical definition.
In his address, Milei stated: “I hope that the model of freedom will be replicated throughout our continent, until socialism becomes barely just a bad memory”.
Alignment with the West
The President took advantage of the honor to highlight what he defined as a paradigm shift in Argentine foreign policy. In that regard, he stated: “Past governments decided to make common cause with socialist dictatorships from all over the world, betraying those principles for which our liberators fought and died”.
He maintained that “it was necessary to correct the course in geopolitical matters”. He defended the current strategic alignment: “We returned to where we belong, to the West, together with the United States, Israel, and the rest of the free world”.
He also devoted part of his message to strongly condemn the Venezuelan regime, which he described as a tyranny responsible for misery and persecution. He also highlighted U.S. leadership in the hemisphere in the face of what he described as the inaction of multilateral organizations.

Trade, agreements, and reforms
One of the central points was the trade and investment agreement with the United States. Milei recalled that two decades ago Argentina rejected a free trade agreement with that country. In that vein, he maintained that this path marked the beginning of a period of decline.
Now, he stated that his government seeks to deepen the bilateral relationship and facilitate Argentina's reintegration into global trade. “We believe that trade is the best path toward peace and prosperity. We are not afraid of openness, because we know the value that Argentines have to offer the world when they are freed from the chains that bound them”.
