Qatar is bidding to host the 2029 Club World Cup
The Asian country seeks to host the most important club tournament following its experience in 2022 with the national teams' competition
With the 2025 Club World Cup still underway, the tournament's success has already led several countries to show interest in hosting the 2029 edition. Among them, the recent bid from Qatar stands out, as it already hosted the national teams' World Cup in 2022.
One year before Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, together with Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, host the 2030 World Cup, FIFA is expected to once again organize the club tournament that caused such a big impact in the current edition on North American soil.
In this context, according to Cadena SER, the Asian country joins a list that includes Spain, Morocco, Brazil (along with other South American countries), and United States, which aims to host consecutively.

The same outlet detailed that, after consulting sources close to Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, if Qatar were chosen, the tournament would be held in December, coinciding with the local winter. This is because high temperatures pose a risk to the players, just as happened in the 2022 World Cup that gave Argentina National Team its third star, which was played at an unusual time of year.

Spain and Morocco are closely watching the Qatari proposal, since they were seen as favorites to organize the tournament just one year before the centenary national teams' World Cup.
FIFA will have to decide whether to choose the host country through a vote, as is the case with the national teams' World Cups, or whether the countries organizing the World Cup will also host the Club World Cup one year earlier.
