On Thursday night, Ángel de Brito shook the entertainment world with unexpected news: Eugenia Tobal had reportedly decided to resign definitively from MasterChef Celebrity (Telefe) amid strong discontent with the jury.
Although in the production's corridors there was talk of a "departure for personal reasons," the journalist stated that behind her decision there was an episode that left her deeply affected.
On LAM (América), the leader of the "angelitas" explained that the actress grew tired of the tone with which some jury members addressed the contestants, but especially of a specific situation with Germán Martitegui, which reportedly triggered her resignation.
"She is fed up with some of the jury's remarks, and there was one that was the last straw," the host revealed. "One of the phrases that bothered her the most came from Martitegui. Many contestants put up with it, others not so much," he described the tense atmosphere inside the show.
According to his account, the incident occurred during one of the competition's recordings, in which Tobal presented a brownie dedicated to her mother. The actress reportedly explained that the dish had sentimental value, as it evoked memories from her childhood and personal tributes. However, the jury reportedly did not have an empathetic reaction.
"She made a brownie dedicated to her mother. Apparently, Martitegui said to her: 'What do you have in your head? How are you going to present that?' in a bad tone, after the whole story about it being for her mother. That was not aired," De Brito explained.
The comment, according to her inner circle, was taken as a lack of respect and marked a turning point in the relationship between the contestant and the jury.

The straw that broke the camel's back
De Brito expanded on the information by stating that Tobal had already been upset with some attitudes within the competition, but that this situation was "the straw that broke the camel's back."
"Another contestant who shared with her told me that she's going to say she resigned for personal reasons, but the brownie incident was what finally made her fed up. She said 'that's it, I'm done' and left," the host detailed.
The actress, who had been one of the most celebrated additions of this season, had shown great commitment to the culinary challenge and had won over the audience with her low profile and delicacy in every preparation.
For this reason, her sudden absence surprised the show's fans and sparked a debate about the jury's treatment of the contestants.
