River will have to pay more than three million dollars due to a lawsuit from the Passarella era
The cause was a breach of contract with a company that organized concerts between 2009 and 2013
This Monday, River officially announced that it will have to make a multimillion-dollar payment following a court ruling against it, in the context of a lawsuit filed more than ten years ago by the company T4F Entretenimientos. The legal dispute originated from a breach of contract signed during Daniel Passarella's presidency, between 2009 and 2013.
According to a statement released by the club, T4F had paid in advance for the rental of the Monumental stadium for three dates of musical events that ultimately were not granted to it. To make matters worse, one of those dates ended up being used by another company, which triggered the legal claim for damages.

The National Commercial Court No. 19 – Secretariat No. 38 issued a ruling in case No. 42390/2014. By virtue of the decision, River has already paid $2,347,671.23 as principal, and still owes $590,000 plus VAT for legal fees and court costs. In total, the amount exceeds three million dollars.
The Núñez institution clarified that the ruling responds to decisions made by a previous management, during a particularly critical period both in sports and economic terms. It is worth recalling that under Passarella's administration, River was relegated to the B Nacional in 2011, in one of the darkest moments in its history.

This financial setback adds to other financial obligations the club is currently facing, amid an ambitious investment process that includes the remodeling of the stadium and the addition of reinforcements to the squad. Although the bulk of the payment was already made before the statement was released, the news once again put the management of a dark past under scrutiny.
