On the eve of what could be the most significant board meeting in recent years at San Lorenzo, Pablo García Lago has submitted his resignation as a board member. The meeting is scheduled for this Tuesday, September 16, at 3:00 p.m. in the north stand of the stadium, although now it will take place with one fewer board member.
The official explained his decision through a statement also published on social media, in which he joined the previous resignations of Marcelo Culotta, Uriel Barros, Agustina Nordestrom, and Javier Allievi.
García Lago se suma a la larga lista de renuncias en San Lorenzo
"In a context of increasing calls for resignation and a leadership vacuum, a small group of people, myself included, have worked tirelessly to prevent Club Atlético San Lorenzo de Almagro from falling into the abyss, despite the ineffectiveness of the current leadership," he wrote.
He added: "Today, faced with the decision of three political factions to remain in power through an interim board led by the former second vice president, I am compelled to irrevocably resign as a board member. I can't endorse an exhausted model that prioritizes electoral benefits over the club's interests."
The former secretary of San Lorenzo, a position he had resigned from in August 2014, suggested that the future could include a transitional government, although he clarified that for this to happen, a leadership vacuum must first be established.
Additionally, in his statement, García Lago also recalled a recent episode: when Marcelo Moretti called a board meeting that ended without a quorum, he went to the stadium to confront the president, but stated that he was not allowed to enter.

Finally, he concluded with a forceful statement: "I leave with the satisfaction of having acted with commitment and responsibility, first as secretary—with my management approved—and then as a board member, trying to minimize the damage caused by the worst leadership in the history of our institution."
How much time remains until the leadership vacuum
With García Lago's resignation, San Lorenzo is three resignations away from forcing a leadership vacuum, which could be only two if Andrés Terzano, a pro-government member who stopped supporting Moretti, decides to step aside. Beyond this situation, the Board of Directors currently has 13 members, who are:
Marcelo Moretti
Julio Lopardo (resigned from the vice presidency but remains as a board member)
Andrés Terzano
Leandro Goroyesky (resigned as treasurer but remains as a board member)
