Crisis at San Lorenzo: Lopardo has submitted his resignation, and Moretti could return soon

The interim manager decided to step down from Ciclón due to the imminent return of the president to the club

San Lorenzo is experiencing turbulent days in sports and, above all, in institutional matters. This Tuesday, just hours after the bankruptcy petition against the club was confirmed by a Swiss investment fund, interim president Julio Lopardo officially submitted his resignation.

The news was reported by journalist Esteban Edul, who confirmed that the official has already signed his departure from the position that he had assumed provisionally after the leave of absence of Marcelo Moretti, the elected president. He also clarified that if he doesn't return, Ciclón will be left without leadership.

Meanwhile, one detail that is not mentioned is that Lopardo, at least for now and contrary to his previous statements, will remain linked to the club, since he would return to his previous position as a board member.

Moretti had stepped aside from management while the courts investigated his alleged involvement in receiving bribes to sign a youth division player. However, in recent days he received approval from the AFA Ethics Tribunal, which will allow him to return to lead the blaugrana institution.

The only current obstacle to his definitive return is that the Board of Directors must lift his leave of absence and formally communicate it.

Lopardo's resignation and Moretti's return are taking place in a critical scenario for the club, which is facing not only significant financial problems but also growing distrust from members and fans. The complex economic situation, together with the judicial complaints, presents an unprecedented challenge in San Lorenzo's recent history.
