The squad demanded bonuses and overdue salaries, while the management is moving forward with an agreement for the AFA to remove the current leadership and appoint a transitional committee

The crisis affecting San Lorenzo added another chapter on Monday. The professional squad refused to train in protest over unpaid bonuses and overdue salaries, a demand that the players have been carrying for months and that erupted just days before the break.

The management had promised to settle the bonus for qualifying for the 2026 Copa Sudamericana before the holidays, but that payment still hasn't arrived. Even after the AFA covered part of the debt corresponding to July and August in November, the club still needs to complete the payment of the outstanding amounts. In this scenario, with training sessions scheduled until December 5, it can't be ruled out that the measure will continue if a solution doesn't appear.

Meanwhile, the squad received at least a sporting roadmap: they will train until December 5 and resume preparations on January 27, when they will begin to focus on the triple competition they must face in 2024.

However, the salary dispute coexists with an unprecedented political earthquake in the club's institutional life. In recent days, club officials held meetings with Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia and moved forward with an agreement to form a transitional committee to replace the current administration, led by Marcelo Moretti, who is completely worn out and without support.

The central figure in the arrangement is Sergio Constantino (opposition board member and third in the last elections), accompanied by Cristian Evangelista, also an opposition member and part of the current Board of Directors. The structure completely excludes the key officials from the current administration, highlighting the deepest rupture in Boedo in recent years.

AFA has already given the green light to the new model and now Tapia will call a Board of Directors meeting where mass resignations are expected. That step will allow the club to be declared leaderless again and formally enable the transitional committee, which will manage the club for a period set by the association itself. The goal will be to halt the economic deterioration, including a bankruptcy request, and restore order before defining an electoral future.

Thus, the salary dispute, political pressure, and the imminent arrival of AFA converge in a scenario that marks one of San Lorenzo's most critical moments in recent decades.
