An unusual episode marked the first leg of the final of the Northern Coastal Region of the Torneo Regional Federal Amateur and resulted in a severe sanction for Guaraní Antonio Franco. Referee Fernando Rekers reported the theft of 1,500 dollars from the locker room during the match in which Defensores de Vilelas won 1-0 as the visiting team.
According to the referee's account, in addition to the money, cell phones and wallets with personal documentation also disappeared, without any forced doors or violent entries being recorded in the stadium. After the report, the police carried out a search operation that made it possible to recover the stolen cell phones.
As the investigation progressed, it was established that those responsible for entering the locker room were members of the home club's private security, who had the corresponding keys. In light of this situation, the Federal Council decided to sanction the Misiones institution.
