The Steam community chose Hollow Knight: Silksong as Game of the Year

The community has spoken and the Steam Awards 2025 already have their winners. After weeks of voting, the platform's users chose Hollow Knight: Silksong as the Game of the Year, leaving one of the main contenders without the top prize.
The decision came during Steam's summer sale and marked one of the most talked-about choices of the year in the gaming world.

How the winners of the Steam Awards 2025 were chosen
The voting began in November, when users nominated games in 11 different categories. The final round took place between December 18 and January 3.
Each shortlist featured five titles, combining classic awards such as Game of the Year with more specific ones, such as Best Game on Steam Deck or Sit Back and Relax.
Game of the Year: Silksong's triumph
In the most important category, Hollow Knight: Silksong prevailed over Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, ARC Raiders, Dispatch, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2.

In addition to GOTY, the title also won the Best Game You Suck At award, an ironic distinction that usually highlights demanding and difficult games right from the start.
The other big winners of the night
Although it did not achieve the top honor, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 did not leave empty-handed and received the Best Soundtrack award.

Indies, multiplayer, and games that remain relevant
The Better With Friends award went to PEAK, while RV There Yet? took home the Sit Back and Relax prize.
Meanwhile, Baldur’s Gate 3 won Labor of Love, a recognition of the ongoing support and updates that kept the RPG relevant throughout 2025.

Innovation and what is coming in 2026
The Most Innovative Gameplay award went to ARC Raiders, which managed to stand out thanks to its concept and its high number of active players.
Looking ahead, the developers of Hollow Knight: Silksong have already confirmed that new free content will arrive in 2026, expanding the experience with new areas, enemies, and weapons.
