'The Game Awards 2025' announces its first world premiere

The Game Awards 2025 hasn't started yet and already has its first world premiere confirmed. Archetype Entertainment announced that Exodus, its ambitious science fiction RPG, will be part of the event with an exclusive new trailer. The ceremony will take place on December 11 starting at 8:30 p.m. (Argentina time) and promises another night full of announcements.

The information was shared by the studio itself on its social media, becoming the first confirmed premiere several weeks before the ceremony.

Exodus: the science fiction RPG from the former BioWare developers

Archetype Entertainment was founded in 2019 in Texas by three heavyweights of gaming: James Ohlen, Chad Robertson, and Drew Karpyshyn, names associated with classics like Baldur’s Gate, KOTOR, and Mass Effect.

During the Game Awards 2023, the studio presented Exodus with Matthew McConaughey as the protagonist.

A teaser confirmed the game's return to the main stage

On November 25, the official Exodus account published a 15-second preview announcing the trailer's premiere at the ceremony. For many players, it will be the first time they see the game in action since its reveal in 2023, although the project has had a very active journey over these two years.

Archetype released the Exodus Traveler’s Handbook, the foundation of the show Star Heist: An Exodus Story, a six-episode TTRPG series. In addition, the platform brings together creatures, Q&A sessions, and game system analyses.

A universe that has already expanded to books, videos, and an Amazon show

Exodus's lore has also grown outside the video game. In September 2024, Exodus: The Archimedes Engine was published, a novel by Peter F. Hamilton that serves as a prequel and explores human evolution toward transhumanism.

The universe was also featured in episode 11 of Amazon's Secret Level show, where the game's time dilation concepts were explored in depth.

Will there be a release date at Game Awards 2025?

The amount of published content and the progress of development fuel expectations that gameplay will finally be shown. A financial report from Hasbro in February 2025 mentioned that Exodus is aiming for a 2026 release, although Archetype hasn't confirmed it.
