A senior State Department official reported Thursday that the Trump administration will not allow foreigners who have celebrated the murder of the conservative leader and commentator Charlie Kirk to enter the country.
The news was confirmed by the number two in U.S. diplomacy, Christopher Landau, who posted on the X platform that Americans should inform the State Department if they believe a foreign-born person living in the U.S. is "glorifying violence" in their speech or actions.
"In light of yesterday's horrific murder of a prominent political figure, I want to emphasize that foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country," Landau wrote. "Please feel free to inform me about such comments from foreigners so the State Department can protect the American people," the official continued.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke early Thursday about the commentator's death, whom he had personally known for years. In his statements, the chief diplomat described the event as "heartbreaking" and expressed his confidence in the authorities' investigation.
"The FBI is the best investigative unit in the world. I spoke with the governor several times yesterday in the midst of this, and they're also involved with their state police there," Rubio commented, referring to the manhunt for the killer currently being carried out by state and federal forces.
"So I think now we just have to let the investigators do their job, and we know two things for sure, and that's that a great young man has died and the family is devastated, and that there's no place for this in the United States. We all know that all the words are out there. This is not only outrageous, it's terrifying," he concluded.
In another display of the human misery in which they're immersed, left-wing activists celebrated on social media the videos that were emerging of the moment Kirk was killed while he was holding an event for a university audience in Utah. This cruel attitude now leaves them unable to enter the United States.
