Her account was hacked during a family trip: Paula Bernini's scare in Europe

The journalist experienced a major setback while traveling through Madrid and Milan with her parents

During a vacation that promised to be unforgettable,Paula Berniniwent through a distressing episode that ruined part of her experience.  The TN journalist traveled to Europe with her parents, but in the middle of the stay, she suffered a hack on her bank account that also affected her family's funds.

Bernini decided to take a break with her parents on a tour of Madrid and Milan.  Everything was going well until one early morning she detected an anomaly: she couldn't access her online banking. At first, she thought it was a technical error, but she quickly understood it was something more serious.

Through her social media, she explained that she noticed the problem when she tried to make a payment with the cards linked to her account. Upon checking her savings account in pesos and dollars, she discovered that the money had disappeared.

The journalist recounted that even part of that money belonged to her father, intended to cover the expenses of the family trip. The impact was twofold: emotional and economic.

The security system failed

Bernini tried to contact the bank on several occasions. First, they indicated that it could be a system error. Then, when the suspicious transactions repeated and she received email alerts, they assured her that it was dollar expenditures.

Finally, she requested a temporary password to access her account, but the facial recognition didn't work. After several failed attempts, the bank confirmed that her account had been compromised and that the money was no longer available.

"This doesn't ruin your life, but it does make you have a bad time," she expressed with anguish. She also shared her regret for having told her parents what happened, who were very affected by the news.

Despite the bad experience, Bernini decided to continue with the trip. She assured that the itinerary through Europe will continue until May 28, and that somehow the expenses will be solved.

"We are in the middle of a trip that we are having a wonderful time, and we must continue to enjoy it like that," she concluded optimistically, although still with the concern weighing on her due to the unexpected blow to her finances.
