During a vacation that promised to be unforgettable, Paula Bernini went through a distressing episode that ruined part of her experience. The TN journalist traveled to Europe with her parents, but in the middle of the stay, she suffered a hack on her bank account that also affected her family's funds.
Bernini decided to take a break with her parents on a tour of Madrid and Milan. Everything was going well until one early morning she detected an anomaly: she couldn't access her online banking. At first, she thought it was a technical error, but she quickly understood it was something more serious.
Through her social media, she explained that she noticed the problem when she tried to make a payment with the cards linked to her account. Upon checking her savings account in pesos and dollars, she discovered that the money had disappeared.
The journalist recounted that even part of that money belonged to her father, intended to cover the expenses of the family trip. The impact was twofold: emotional and economic.
The security system failed
Bernini tried to contact the bank on several occasions. First, they indicated that it could be a system error. Then, when the suspicious transactions repeated and she received email alerts, they assured her that it was dollar expenditures.
