A multibillion-dollar project with official backing
The Army awarded contracts to two consortia: one made up of Anduril and Meta, and another led by Rivet. Although the total value of the program was not disclosed, Rivet detailed that its contract amounts to 195 million dollars.
This development continues the line of the IVAS system (Integrated Visual Augmentation System). It is a military project based on mixed reality technology that was projected to exceed 20 billion dollars.
What Meta and Anduril's new glasses are like
The glasses will be designed to improve soldiers' orientation during missions. They will include a modular design and a more open headset, which can be updated according to the needs of each operation.

The project, now named SBMC (Soldier-Borne Mission Command), aims to surpass the limits of the IVAS system. More than 260,000 hours of testing conducted by soldiers were used to perfect the design and functionality.
