The new 'reiteration' law allows preventive disqualifications without waiting for a conviction. Authorities have already sanctioned reckless and shameless individuals

The zero-tolerance policy on Córdoba's roads began to show concrete results with the application of new legal measures. Traffic authorities reported that there are already 4,424 drivers with their licenses suspended throughout the province. Most of them lost their permits by exhausting the points system due to repeated violations.
The "scoring" system punished 4,073 people who accumulated serious offenses behind the wheel and demonstrated disregard for the rules. This group is joined by 351 individuals disqualified for testing positive in breathalyzer tests. Provincial law establishes penalties of up to one year for those who put the lives of others at risk.
The major innovation is the implementation of the "reiterance" measure, which speeds up the timelines of judicial bureaucracy. This tool allows authorities to issue preventive suspensions without needing to wait for a final ruling, which usually takes months. The goal is to remove dangerous drivers from the roads before they cause a tragedy.

Test cases: the end of viral impunity
The legal reform debuted with two high-profile media cases that occurred on the Camino de las Altas Cumbres. A woman who was driving a red Hilux pickup truck was preventively disqualified after she was filmed making reckless overtaking maneuvers. The offender had a terrible record with 21 unpaid fines and three previous disqualifications already served.
The director of Road Safety, Miguel Ángel Rizzotti, defended the precautionary measure because there is a "higher good," which is public safety. The driver had a history of positive breathalyzer tests and suspensions of up to 120 days in the recent past. The new regulations made it possible to act ex officio in the face of the irrefutable evidence of the viral videos.
Another emblematic case involved a 78-year-old woman with a license from San Luis who was also performing dangerous maneuvers. The registered owner had accumulated six fines in Córdoba, five of them classified as very serious for speeding. The Accident Prevention Directorate acted quickly to neutralize the risk she posed.

Joint liability and citizen reports
TheCaminera Police adapted its procedures to act based on reports from committed citizens themselves. Videos recorded by other drivers now serve as essential evidence to initiate sanctioning proceedings. If the driver is not identified, the law allows authorities to proceed against the registered owner of the vehicle.
This joint liability was applied in the case of a motorcyclist who was riding "flat" on the seat on the Beltway. Authorities issued a fine against the owner of the motorcycle and opened a criminal case to identify the reckless rider. The State seeks to put an end to road anomie through strict enforcement of the law.
