The Trump administration dismantled a useless Biden project on wind energy.

The Republican government of the United States announced the immediate halt of a wind energy project that was increasing energy costs

The United States Department of the Interior (DOI) announced this Friday that it will immediately halt all activity related to the offshore wind project "Revolution Wind," located off the coasts of Rhode Island and Connecticut.

This decision aligns with President Donald Trump's energy goals, which seek to promote reliable energy sources and reduce costs for American citizens.

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), a division of the DOI, confirmed that the measure responds to the new policy of the Trump administration, which has begun to reverse many of the green energy initiatives promoted by former Democratic President Joe Biden.

Among them is the recent cancellation of the massive Lava Ridge wind project in southern Idaho, approved by the Biden administration shortly before Trump's return to power.

The DOI's deputy press secretary, Aubrie Spady, told DCNF: "Americans deserve affordable, reliable, and lasting energy, not experimental and costly wind projects that have already proven to fail."

She added that, following President Trump's "Energy Dominance" agenda, the government is ending these initiatives to strengthen the country's energy future and reduce costs for American families.

The Revolution Wind project had been approved by the Biden administration in 2023 and was being developed on federal lands of the Outer Continental Shelf. During his term, Biden aggressively promoted wind and solar energy, granting billions of dollars in subsidies, loans, and grants.

In contrast, Trump has redirected the country's focus toward traditional sources such as natural gas and oil, considered by his administration to be more reliable and less expensive.

On July 7, Trump signed an executive order instructing the DOI to review and eliminate any regulation, guidance, or policy that gives preferential treatment to wind or solar projects.

On his social media, the president has called the promotion of these technologies "the scam of the century," criticizing the increase in energy costs in states that depend on wind and solar energy, and asserting that "the days of stupidity are over in the United States."

Additionally, on August 1, the government introduced new bureaucratic obstacles to the permitting process for green energy projects on public lands. Days later, the Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum, stated that wind farms "are known for killing eagles," and assured that the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act will be strictly enforced to safeguard these species.

This is not the first time the Trump administration has taken action against wind energy. In March, it withdrew a permit for a major offshore wind project in New Jersey.

The wind industry has faced multiple and harsh criticisms in recent years. In 2024, several beaches closed after a broken turbine threw debris into the sea off Nantucket.

In 2023, protests grew over the installation of high-voltage cables near residential areas, and environmentalists warned about the deaths of stranded dolphins on the East Coast, which are attributed to wind activities. Additionally, fishermen have expressed their opposition, arguing that offshore wind farms threaten the viability of their industry.
