The U.S. president strongly criticized wind turbines and their negative impact on the environment
The president of the United States, Donald Trump, told European leaders gathered in Scotland that wind turbines are "very destructive" and stated that no further constructions of this type will be authorized in the United States.
The U.S. president urged European authorities to "stop the windmills," arguing that they are causing significant damage to their nations. These statements came ahead of a meeting on tariff policies with the president of the European Commission, the progressive Ursula von der Leyen.
"I tell Europe two things: stop the windmills. They're ruining your countries. I mean it. It's very sad," Trump said yesterday.

Today, the Republican leader reiterated his position during the meeting with Von der Leyen and other leaders in Scotland, prior to the tariff talks.
"We won't allow a windmill to be built in the United States. They're killing us. They're destroying the beauty of our landscapes, our valleys, our beautiful plains," he declared.
Trump has been a persistent critic of wind energy, and previously tried to halt an offshore wind turbine project near his Turnberry golf course, located in Scotland. According to the president, from that complex, where he planned to play golf on Sunday, at least nine wind turbines can be seen.

"Today I'm playing at the best course in the world, I think, Turnberry. Even though it's mine, it's probably the best in the world, right?" Donald Trump commented to journalists, while he was surrounded by European Union leaders. "I looked at the horizon and saw nine windmills. I wondered: isn't it a shame? What a pity that we have the same thing all over Europe, especially, with windmills everywhere."
According to experts, wind energy, especially offshore, is among the most expensive forms of electricity generation. In January, Trump signed an executive order that prevents the approval of new wind projects in the United States.
The U.S. president argued that wind turbines generate noise, negatively affect marine wildlife, cause bird deaths, deteriorate the landscape, and rust after eight years of use. He also emphasized that there is no suitable site for their final disposal. "Germany tried it, but wind energy doesn't work," he declared. "Subsidies are needed for wind energy, and energy shouldn't need them," Trump concluded.
