The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Friday that Nigeria will once again be designated as a Country of Particular Concern (CPC) due to the persecution of Christians by Islamic terrorists taking place in that country.

The designation that Trump announced today at noon means that Nigeria has committed "severe violations of religious freedom" as stipulated by the International Religious Freedom Act (IRFA) of 1998.

"Christianity faces an existential threat in Nigeria," the president stated in a post on the Truth Social platform. "Thousands of Christians are being killed. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter," he said.

Trump's message

"I hereby declare Nigeria a country of particular concern, but that's just the beginning. When Christians, or any other group, are being massacred as is happening in Nigeria, something must be done! I call on Congressman Riley Moore, along with Chairman Tom Cole and the House Appropriations Committee, to immediately investigate this matter and report back to me," the Republican leader added.

"The United States can't stand idly by while such atrocities are committed in Nigeria and many other countries. We're ready, willing, and able to save our great Christian population around the world!," concluded the New York magnate.

The congressmen who were urged by Trump to investigate what is happening on the African continent thanked the White House for its trust and promised on their social media that they will get to work to "defend our brothers and sisters in Christ who are being massacred by radical Islamists."

Myanmar, China, Cuba, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Nicaragua, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan are other countries that are part of the blacklist. Nigeria had previously been designated as a CPC during Trump's first term, but that status was removed by order of Biden, despite the fact that severe violations of freedom of worship in that country have been documented for years.
