After a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer was wounded in New York last Saturday, the Trump administration called for an end to sanctuary cities in the country.
During a press conference this Monday, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, and the head of Border Security, Tom Homan, condemned the sanctuary city policies of New York's Democratic administration, stating that they allow criminals to remain in the country and make these types of crimes possible.
"I'm calling on all mayors and governors of sanctuary cities to change their policies and strategies immediately," Noem declared.

Details of the attack
The officer, 42 years old, was shot along with his friend by two men riding a motorcycle when both were sitting in Fort Washington Park in the Manhattan neighborhood. The CBP member was shot several times in the face and arm, while his friend was miraculously unharmed.
The suspect in the shooting was identified as Miguel Francisco Mora Núñez, an illegal immigrant from the Dominican Republic who was arrested after presenting himself at a city hospital seeking medical assistance. His accomplice, Christhian Aybar-Berroa, also a Dominican citizen, was arrested Monday morning.
The arrest of the two undocumented criminals is due to the fact that the officer was able to defend himself from the attack with his service weapon, thus wounding Muñoz in the leg and groin, which caused him and his accomplice to flee.
Noem and Homan visited the wounded officer today, who is in stable condition.

"Flood" the city with immigration agents
In response to this attack, senior government officials stated that Trump plans to flood the New York streets with immigration enforcement agents.
