Thanks to Donald Trump's administration, illegal crossings through the land border have decreased by 80% compared to the previous year

The United States achieved a historic milestone in border security in October 2025. According to official figures confirmed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), the country recorded only 30,561 migrant encounters throughout the month, the lowest number ever recorded for an October and the safest start to a fiscal year in the country's history.
The previous record, 43,010 encounters in October 2012, was surpassed by a margin of 29%, while the current figures represent a 79% drop compared to October 2024, under the previous administration.
In simple terms: the U.S. border has transformed from a crisis into an effective wall, a change that CBP itself directly attributes to PresidentDonald Trump's efficient policies.
''History made: the safest October of all time and six consecutive months without releases. This is the safest border the United States has ever had,'' declared Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem, who thanked border agents for their dedication and professionalism.

From January 21 to October 31, 2025, CBP reported 106,134 total encounters along the southwest border, with a daily average of just 258, a 95% reduction compared to the previous administration's daily average.
In contrast, under the government of Joe Biden, the monthly average exceeded 155,000 encounters, while the nine months of Trump's presidency add up to less than a single month of the previous period.
The numbers speak for themselves. In just nine months, the "law and order" policy promoted by the Trump administration has achieved what many considered impossible: a controlled border, strict enforcement of the laws, and the total elimination of "catch-and-release."

For the sixth consecutive month, not a single detained person was released without due legal process, consolidating a paradigm shift in U.S. immigration management.
The drastic drop in the number of crossings has also allowed resources to be redirected. With less pressure on the border, CBP has moved to strengthen interior enforcement of immigration laws, deploying agents to major cities such as Chicago and Los Angeles to locate and process those who violate the law within the country.
CBP Commissioner Rodney Scott praised the work of agents on the ground and highlighted the effectiveness of the measures implemented. ''Our mission is clear: secure the border and protect this nation. There are no excuses, no politics, only results. The results are here.''

Analysts agree that the figures reflect a complete recovery of border control that had been lost in recent years. The daily average of apprehensions fell from over 5,000 to just 258, representing a reduction of more than 90% in crossing attempts. The government's message has been firm: anyone who attempts to enter illegally will face the law.
DHS sums it up forcefully: ''The border stopped being a turnstile and became a fortress.''
In President Trump's own words, the United States is experiencing "the restoration of law, order, and national sovereignty." With these historic figures, the White House presents a difficult argument to refute: for the first time in decades, the southern border is truly under control.
