US21 and Universo Jiménez will invest US$12 million in a new boutique dome
Construction will begin in 2026 and will have a capacity for 4,500 people, transforming the city's event offerings
Córdoba will take a leap in entertainment with the Domo Siglo 21, the result of the alliance between US21 and Universo Jiménez. The microstadium will begin construction next year and is expected to be ready by October 2027, offering a first-class experience. This private investment promises to establish the province as a hub for shows in the country's interior, without relying on state funds.
The project arises from Universidad Siglo 21's interest in expanding its influence in a space that complements its educational and cultural vision. Belén Mendé, the university's rector, indicated that they sought a project that "synergizes greatly with the university" and highlighted the authentic Córdoba roots of Universo Jiménez. Carli Jiménez, its director, expressed pride in participating in a large-scale project with local and regional impact in the city.
The lack of infrastructure for large shows in Córdoba causes many events to be held in Buenos Aires. Since the closure of Orfeo Superdomo, Universo Jiménez has sought to offer quality alternatives for concerts, fairs, and sporting events in the province. The private alliance will allow Córdoba to retain an important cultural and economic flow, generating jobs and tourism activity during events.

Capacity and cutting-edge design
Domo Siglo 21 will have a capacity for 4,500 people and will operate as a boutique microarena with first-class facilities. It will feature comfortable seats, exclusive catering areas, and advanced technology for large-scale events and personalized experiences. According to Jiménez, the goal is for it to be "the most wonderful and relevant dome in the country's interior," using next-generation suppliers.
The architectural design is led by Agustinoy & Agustinoy Arquitectos, who promise an attractive and functional interior, capable of enhancing every show. The location on the US21 campus in front of the airport will allow for strategic access via Spilimbergo Street with double entrances. Mendé emphasized that this location aims to energize the entire surrounding area and position it as a new epicenter of entertainment and tourism in Córdoba.
In addition to concerts and shows, the dome will serve as a venue for university graduations and congresses, eliminating the need to rent external spaces. The incorporated technology will allow for advance management of tickets, food and beverage services, and will personalize the attendee experience through artificial intelligence. Transportation and accommodation options will also be offered to those visiting the city from other provinces, optimizing logistics and promoting regional tourism.

Economic and cultural impact
The total investment will be US$12 million, financed with own resources, bank loans, and the support of Banco de Córdoba, showing the strength of this private initiative. Juan Carlos Rabbat, president of US21, assured that they will proceed regardless of the dollar value or interest rate, highlighting the university's commitment. Mendé emphasized that the project will generate jobs, boost the local economy, and establish Córdoba as a competitive cultural hub.
Events with 4,500 attendees from Thursday to Sunday are expected to have a positive impact on lodging, gastronomy, and commerce. In addition, each show will create around 750 direct jobs, along with many other indirect jobs related to services and logistics. This dome is also projected as a driver of the Córdoba Airport's air hub, establishing the city as a strategic node for tourism and entertainment.
The relationship between the university and the Jiménez family reflects trust and respect, consolidating a bond that now materializes. With this private investment, Córdoba adds a cultural reference space, capable of attracting first-class shows without relying on state funds. The expectation is that the dome will transform the experience of Córdoba residents and visitors, democratizing access to quality culture and entertainment in the country's interior.
