A newly released video shows left-wing activist Alex Pretti attacking a vehicle belonging to federal officers in Minneapolis a few days before he was shot and killed in a confrontation with Border Patrol.
In the footage, which dates from January 13, Pretti can be seen spitting at the officers and kicking the taillight of one of their vehicles. Pretti then insults the officers before an agent exits the vehicle and quickly subdues him by throwing him to the ground.
After a brief fight, Pretti manages to escape detention and withdraw with the help of a crowd of protesters. What appears to be a weapon can be seen protruding from the waist of the left-wing activist who was gunned down last weekend.

The family's lawyer confirms the authenticity of the video
Pretti's family lawyer confirmed that it is the nurse who appears in the video that was filmed by The News Movement. "One week before Alex was assaulted with gunfire in the street, despite not posing a threat to anyone, he was violently assaulted by a group of ICE agents," commented lawyer Steve Schleicher.
The January 13 altercation took place in the Powderhorn neighborhood of Minneapolis, just a few kilometers (about 1.86 miles) from where ICE agents shot Renee Good on January 7. Good was using her car to obstruct the work of immigration officers and even went so far as to hit one of the agents before she was gunned down.
Eleven days after his first confrontation with Border Patrol, a violent altercation that left him with a broken rib, the shooting that ended Pretti's life took place. The Department of Homeland Security said that it has no record of the January 13 interaction between Pretti and the immigration officers.
