The White House Border Czar arrived in the Democratic city this Tuesday to work together with federal and local authorities

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, made the decision to send the White House Border Czar, Tom Homan, to oversee ICE operations in the city of Minneapolis, according to CNN.
With Homan's arrival, it is expected that the commander of the Border Patrol, Gregory Bovino, will leave Minneapolis to continue his duties in other jurisdictions. An official described Bovino's departure as a "mutual decision" after Saturday's fatal shooting of anti-ICE agitator Alex Pretti.
Federal authorities confirmed that Pretti was armed with a nine-millimeter handgun, had several loaded magazines, and was shot while he was resisting arrest during an operation targeting an illegal immigrant with a criminal record whom Pretti was seeking to protect.

The details of the shooting
Bovino explained at a press conference that his agents were carrying out an operation against an illegal immigrant identified as José Huerta Chuma, who had a criminal record for domestic violence, disturbing the peace, and driving without a valid license. In that press conference, the chief of the Patrol said that the agents confronted Pretti during the operation.
"DHS agents were carrying out a specific operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien, José Huerta Chuma," Bovino told reporters. "During this operation, an individual approached United States Border Patrol agents with a nine-millimeter semiautomatic handgun. The agents tried to disarm the individual, but he resisted violently."
According to Bovino, since Pretti was heavily armed at the time of the confrontation, one of the agents replied by firing in self-defense after determining that there was an immediate threat to his life. "The medics at the scene immediately rendered medical aid to the subject, but the subject was pronounced dead at the scene," the official added.
A neighbor stated later to the media that Pretti was part of an anti-ICE neighborhood chat group that was used to monitor the activity of federal forces. Jeanne Massey, who lives a block from Pretti, asserted that her neighbor was involved in efforts together with left-wing activists to track the agents' operations.
