The survival horror genre adds a new independent proposal to keep in mind.
Available starting today on Steam, the demo allows players to try the first full mission and experience firsthand the mix of atmospheric horror and tactical planning that defines the game.
Classic horror with a turn-based tactical system
In Vultures – Scavengers of Death, the player joins the VULTURES mercenary unit, which is sent to a metropolis devastated by an infection that collapsed the world. The mission is to collect materials, documents, and any evidence that may lead to a possible cure.
The gameplay proposes controlling two agents with different styles, which are customizable before each incursion. Once on the ground, every move matters: stealth can avoid unnecessary confrontations, but when combat is inevitable, the turn-based system demands precision and calculation.
The player can:
Aim at vital points.
Disable limbs to slow enemies.
Manage limited resources under pressure.
The proposal combines vulnerability —a hallmark of classic survival horror— with tactical decisions that are reminiscent of strategic RPGs.
What the demo available on Steam includes
The demo offers access to the first full mission, which is set in an abandoned police station. The playable character is Leopoldo, who is equipped with a combat knife, a handgun, and a shotgun. According to the studio, the mission can be completed in approximately 45 minutes on a first playthrough.
Vultures – Scavengers of Death lanza su demo en Steam y apuesta por un survival horror táctico con sello latinoamericano
On the narrative side, Leopoldo investigates the last known whereabouts of scientist Thiago Schultz, who is linked to the Eugenesys Corporation and disappeared before the infectious outbreak. Exploring files, gathering records, and connecting clues is a central part of the experience.
Retro aesthetic and inspiration from Resident Evil
The action takes place in the Salento Valley, which has been turned into ground zero after a biological disaster. Enclosed environments, fixed camera angles, and dark settings build an oppressive atmosphere with a clear influence from the PlayStation era.
The game takes direct inspiration from series like Resident Evil, especially in its camera design, resource management, and constant tension. Permanent death adds an extra level of risk: a bad decision can cost the entire playthrough.
As players progress, more aggressive mutants and abominations emerge, which forces players to rethink strategies and optimize every resource they find.
Team Vultures and an independent identity
Behind the project are Mateo and Giovanni, founders of Team Vultures, who have been developing video games and software for almost a decade. The studio is committed to unconventional mechanics and a strongly defined retro art direction.
With this demo, Vultures – Scavengers of Death positions itself as one of the Latin American independent proposals to watch in 2026, especially for those who seek an experience that combines classic horror with demanding tactical planning.
