Concern about the chef's health began in mid-December, when he suffered a decompensation during an expedition in the Lanín Volcano area, in the province of Neuquén.
While he was taking part in an organized trek, he began to show severe physical exhaustion that alerted the group. Faced with the situation, an emergency operation was activated to provide him with immediate assistance.
After being treated on site, Petersen was transferred to a nearby hospital, where doctors detected atrial fibrillation, an alteration in heart rhythm that requires specialized control.

From that diagnosis onward, his hospitalization was decided for a more in-depth evaluation and rigorous monitoring.
As the days went by, the condition became more complex, which led to his transfer to other health centers in the region. At Ramón Carrillo Hospital in San Martín de los Andes, he was admitted to intensive care after developing multiple organ failure, a situation that raised alarms in his inner circle.
In the face of this scenario, specialists decided to transfer him to Buenos Aires to access more complex tests and treatments.
The transfer was carried out on December 26 in an air ambulance, with specialized medical personnel and constant monitoring throughout the journey. From Hospital Alemán, they confirmed that the procedure was carried out without setbacks and that the patient arrived in stable condition.
