The rescue efforts following the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela revealed a striking fact: the main international assistance operations were driven by right-wing governments, while the traditional geopolitical allies of chavismo and champions of "empathy" have not announced comparable aid missions so far.
The United States was one of the first countries to react and even alerted about the seismic activity, while the administration of Donald Trump deployed personnel from the Southern Command to coordinate assistance, sent mobile hospitals, military aircraft, and the amphibious ship USS Fort Lauderdale, and announced an initial aid package of USD 150 million that could be expanded in the coming days.
The United States Southern Command arrived first in the impacted areas.
Argentina also responded quickly. The government of Javier Milei sent a contingent of 26 specialized personnel from the Armed Forces whoare already working in the state of La Guaira, one of the most affected areas. The operation includes canine teams, doctors, nurses, medications, an ambulance, water purification plants, tents, mattresses, and other supplies intended to assist the affected families.
Argentina sent a humanitarian contingent already operational from Palomar.
El Salvador, for its part, mobilized one of the largest international contingents. The government of Nayib Bukele made available nearly 300 rescuers and paramedics, along with dozens of tons of equipment, medications, and essential supplies. Part of that personnel is already deployed in Venezuelan territory assisting in the search for survivors.

Chile also reacted swiftly. The government led by José Antonio Kast sent specialized brigades of firefighters, urban rescuers, and several tons of humanitarian aid to assist with emergency operations. Ecuador, under the presidency of Daniel Noboa, also arranged for the immediate dispatch of aid and specialized personnel.

These operations are joined by teams sent from countries such as Spain, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Germany, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, France, and Italy. According to Venezuelan authorities, more than 1,600 international rescuers are already working on the ground and new contingents continue to arrive to reinforce the search efforts among the collapsed buildings.
In contrast, the leftist regimes that maintained close political and economic relations with the chavista regime, such as China and Russia, have only publicly expressed their solidarity, without announcing so far the deployment of rescue or humanitarian assistance missions of similar magnitude. In the case of Iran and Cuba, they have not reported any significant international aid operations by the time of this edition.

As the death toll exceeds 1,400 people and the UN estimates that up to 6.8 million people may have been affected by the earthquakes, the priority remains to find survivors and assist millions of victims. In this context, the international response has been led by right-wing countries that quickly mobilized human, logistical, and health resources, despite any ideological differences.
