"Within 15 days we're going to know who the buyer is", stated the panelist, previewing what promises to be one of the most significant business moves of the year in the audiovisual sector.
El futuro sigue siendo incierto para los trabajadores del canal
During the broadcast, Latorre provided details about how the operation is unfolding. She explained that the mechanism is similar to a bidding process and that there are currently five groups interested in acquiring the channel.
"There are five bidders. Four proposals have already been submitted and the final one is still pending from one of the most important groups: Yankelevich," she detailed.
The panelist also mentioned some of the names that have already put their cards on the table: "One of the groups is Yankelevich's, another is Santa María's, owner of Canal 9, and there are three more whose names I don't know."
Although the figures have not been disclosed, Latorre clarified that the price will not be the only determining factor. "When all five offers are in, the channel will decide. It doesn't necessarily have to be the one that pays the most," she explained, emphasizing that the continuity of projects and long-term viability will be key in the final decision.
The conditions for the new owner
One of the most important points Latorre highlighted was that, regardless of who becomes the buyer, existing agreements must be respected. "Everything that was agreed upon before can't be changed," warned the panelist.
To illustrate the situation, she gave as an example one of Telefe's star hosts: "If Santiago del Moro currently has an agreement to continue until 2030, the new owner must not change the conditions."
This way, the panelist made it clear that the sale will not imply abrupt changes in programming or current contracts, guaranteeing a certain stability for the on-air personalities and work teams.
